The Cash found in the house belongs to Partha Chatterjee by Arpita

The money was supposed to be moved in a day or two but the raid foiled their plans, Arpita Mukherjee told officials.

The mountain of cash recovered from her home belongs to Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, Arpita Mukherjee, the minister’s close aide, has told the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The money was to be infused in companies linked to her, she has told the agency.

During her interrogation, the actor divulged that the plan was to move the piles of cash out of her house in a day or two. But the agency raids foiled the plan, she said.

Arpita Mukherjee and Mamata Banerjee’s minister jointly own a property, the financial probe agency said, citing documents pertaining to the joint property found during searches.

The property was bought by Partha Chatterjee in 2012.

Arpita Mukherjee was remanded to the ED’s custody for a day by the Calcutta High Court last evening. The lesser-known actor was catapulted to the headlines after the financial probe agency found Rs 21 crore in cash at her Kolkata home.
